9/30: Immigration Law

Richard W. Chang is a partner at the law firm of Wasserman, Mancini & Chang, an "AV" rate firm that is also one of the oldest immigration law firms in the country. Richard W. Chang received his Juris Doctorate (JD) and his International Law Certificate at the Columbus School of Law at the Catholic University of America. He co-founded the DC Chapter of the National Association of Asian American Professionals (NAAAP-DC) in 1998. Richard was a contributing author for the Taiwan-AIT article in "The Visa Processing Guide" published by the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA). His article titled, “Proper Invalidation Of A Labor Certification By DHS, DOL Or DOS” was published on August 7, 2008 by www.ilw.com. Richard has chaired various committees with AILA-DC over the past few years. He was ranked as one of the Top Northeast Lawyer's by Amtrak Arrive Magazine and AVVO in Nov/Dec 2011. Richard W. Chang was named one of America's Best Lawyers 2020 and 2021 in Immigration by Best Lawyers at Bestlawyers.com (U.S. News and World Reports)

9/30: Semiconductor Supply Chain Job Demand

Claire Sanderson is the Senior Director of Government Affairs at TSMC. Prior to joining TSMC, she worked for Senator Cornyn of Texas as his lead staffer on semiconductors and a policy advisor on technology, telecommunications, space, and science. During her ten years of working for Senator Cornyn, she crafted several laws, including the CHIPS for America Act and the Secure 5G and Beyond Act. Claire graduated with honors from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, and was born and raised in Denver, CO.

Terry Hsiao is an entrepreneur, advisor and investor with extensive experience in mobile messaging, payment and fintech. He has founded multiple companies in mobile that got acquired by Sybase, Verifone, and Kaleyra where he helped its recent public listing on NYSE:KLR in November 2019. Mr. Hsiao served on the board of Virginia’s Center of Innovation and Technology, a state-funded economic development and investment agency. Terry is the current President of Monte Jade DC, representing Asian American business leaders and entrepreneurs for 25 years. He also runs the DC MIT Alum Angel Group. Terry received a BSEE Honors degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Rutgers University and a Master’s degree in Management of Technology from MIT Sloan.

9/30: Career Development Advice and Opportunities at US FDA

Dr. Yuan-Li Shen is the Deputy Division Director at the Division of Biometrics V, Office of Biostatistics, United States Food and Drug Administration. Dr. Shen oversees the teams which support all statistical aspects of regulatory submissions in solid tumor areas. Before joining Oncology statistical review team at FDA in 2004, she worked as a statistical project leader at a pharmaceutical company and a CRO, a statistical reviewer in the neuropharm review team at FDA as well as a post-doctoral fellow at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Dr. Shen received her doctorate degree in Biostatistics from the UNC, Chapel Hill. She has combined 25-year, post graduate experience in clinical trial setting across different therapeutic areas.

Erika Lam Lui is Public Relations Director of North American Brand for Bacardi Rum and Bombay Sapphire. She has been working in the spirits, food and beverage and lifestyle PR world for 11+ years with a range of global clients – from Booking.com, Stella Artois, Pernod Ricard, General Motors, Kodak, Verizon and more. Prior to moving back to Maryland in 2020, she spent 11 years in New York City, working at three different global PR agencies overseeing brand campaign launches, new product announcements, social and influencer campaigns, executive and thought leadership, celebrity collaborations and more. Prior to joining Bacardi, she worked for Stella Artois, leading the PR efforts for major brand campaigns CSR initiative with Matt Damon and the brand’s launch of Stella Artois Cidre innovation at the Kentucky Derby.

Robert Schlaeger serves as Chief of Staff to Foxconn Technology Group’s Vice Chairman, Dr. Jay Lee. Prior to working at Foxconn, Robert worked in the office of Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker and Wisconsin Lt. Governor Rebecca Kleefisch. He began his career in Washington D.C. in the office of Wisconsin Congressman Jim Sensenbrenner. Robert has a master’s degree from Georgetown University and bachelor’s degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. As a born-and-raised Wisconsinite, Robert enjoys watching the Green Bay Packers and cheering for the Wisconsin Badgers.

Kent Lin retired from Stanley Black & Decker after 37 years service last year. Before his retirement, Kent served as VP & General Manager, Global Supply Management Asia. During his tenure, Kent was assigned to Asia 3 times since 1995. He had built a strong and competent Sourcing team in Asia to support company’s global manufacturing needs for components and sales of finished products. Kent received his master degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maryland and MBA degree from the Loyola University Maryland. He received his BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from Cheng Kung University in Taiwan in 1978.
