Mental health problems (such as anxiety, and depression) are common in adolescence. Epidemiological data in the United States shows that about 50% of teenagers will have mental health problems/symptoms, and 20% of teenagers will have serious mental health problems that seriously affect their study and life. Due to the lack of mental health literacy and psychotherapy resources, as well as the public stigmatization of mental health problems, many teenagers with mental health problems do not seek psychological help in time, which has a long-term negative impact on individuals, families and society.

"Youth Mental Health First Aid Training" is a course certified by the American Behavioral Health Association. Through training, teachers and parents will learn relevant knowledge about adolescent mental health. It will not only help teachers and parents detect and identify adolescent psychological problems early and provide students with effective help in a timely manner, but also provide support and guarantee for the healthy growth of teenagers. Moreover, teachers and parents will also learn practical skills on how to correctly deal with common adolescent psychological problems, such as depression, anxiety, and self-injury/suicide through role-playing and scenario exercises, so as to prevent students from falling into greater crises. Professor Wang Cixin, a psychologist of CCACC Health Center, made a cultural adaption of the training to make it more suitable for Chinese American culture.
