Montgomery County has been a governing body willing to listen to the voices of its residents on public facilities, public health, community safety, and public transportation. The CCACC has functioned as a communication connection between the county and Asian Americans for years.

The Great Seneca Science Corridor (GSSC) of Montgomery County is completely or nearly completely surrounded by the City of  Rockville, the City of Gaithersburg, and the Town of Washington Grove. It includes the  Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), the Universities at Shady Grove, Johns Hopkins Montgomery County College Campus, and the Life Sciences Center.

This area has grown significantly over the past 10 years. The Montgomery County Planning Commission is planning for a minor amendment to the Master Plan. It hopes to review the past with its residents and plan for the future. CCACC has three facilities in this area and serves Asian Americans and the general population on a daily basis. The CCACC has been invited by the Planning Commission to  co-sponsor a Visioning Workshop so that all concerned individuals and business owners  can gather to discuss the following or related topics:

Previous transportation recommendations
The safety and comfort of the transportation network for people walking, biking, and rolling, to ensure consistency with the county’s Vision Zero policy and Complete Streets Guidelines.
Housing affordability and attainability in the area.
The status of public and private open spaces, parks, and trails, including the LSC Loop trail.
The urban design guidelines—how buildings are built and what they look like.
Opportunities to advance racial equity and social justice.
What should your neighborhood look like? What percentage of the Park with green is enough for our community? How should transportation be designed for convenience and comfort for people? How do you like the plan for the next decade to be developed for an ideal living environment? Neighbors are all welcome to work with the Montgomery County Planning team, follow the progress closely, and envision the future together!  A great neighborhood doesn’t need to be a dream.

The purpose of the workshop is to collect creative ideas from friends in our neighbors to sketch a comfortable community for all, share your preference, and dig out the weakness of the plan. The Great Seneca Plan: Connecting Life and Science is an effort to examine the Great Seneca community, identify strengths and needs, and create a vision for the future.
Through our work, Montgomery Planning will evaluate how the area has grown over the past decade, consider current trends, and create recommendations to guide future growth with a focus on equity, sustainability, and transportation and community connections.
We look forward to working with you to expand our thriving, dynamic community for residents, workers, and business owners.

The planning process is centered on conversations and collaborations with the community to envision a shared future of equitable prosperity for a vibrant, diverse, and innovative region. We look forward to exploring how to create a unique sense of place—where industry, residents, and more can all contribute. Working together with you, we will begin building a Great Seneca that integrates diverse elements into a complete community and anticipates the changes to come.
To make that happen, we need to hear from you.

The workshop will be held bilingual in both English and Chinese with an interpretation service on site. There will be snacks and children's activities (Not babysitting)  too. Please RSVP: https://tinyurl.com/bde4v4tv and welcome to express your thoughts.
