About the Club

The Children’s Chorus of Greater Washington was established in 1990 with the goal of nurturing kids and developing their musical talents. They hope to use Chinese music to not only teach children the importance of Chinese culture but to also spread the culture to the public. Members of the chorus are typically second generation Chinese Americans (ABCs) between the ages of 5 and 18. Children are taught all aspects of performing, from developing their vocals to singing and dancing, costumes, and bringing the song to life.

Instructor Jean Hsu has a lot of experience in music education, especially when it comes to unleashing children’s musical potential. She not only helps children develop their musical skills, but also works to build their leadership skills, teamwork abilities, and self-confidence.

The Children’s Chorus performs throughout the year and as worked with different choruses in the area. They have also been invited to perform at multiple places including the Kennedy Center, US Botanic Garden, and opera houses.
