The Dragon Boat Festival, one of the most cherished traditional holidays in Chinese culture, symbolizes wishes for good fortune, health, and happiness. On the afternoon of June 19, the Evergreen Club of the Chinese Culture and Community Service Center (CCACC) hosted its 2026 Dragon Boat Festival Celebration, welcoming more than 300 members to Room 109 on the first floor of the CCACC Community Center to celebrate the occasion together.
The gathering began at 1:00 p.m. with a delicious selection of home-style dishes. Traditional zongzi (sticky rice dumplings), a signature food of the Dragon Boat Festival, were enjoyed by attendees, along with refreshing shaved ice desserts that offered a welcome respite from the summer heat.
Opening Remarks and Holiday Greetings
The formal program began at 2:00 p.m. Ms. Chiao-Chiao Liu, Director of CCACC Community Services, opened the event by extending warm holiday greetings and best wishes to all attendees. She was followed by Ms. Li-Fang C. Liu, Deputy Executive Director of CCACC, who also conveyed her festive greetings and expressed appreciation for the members' continued support and active participation in CCACC programs and activities.
Captivating Performances Highlighted the Celebration
A vibrant lineup of cultural performances soon energized the audience and became one of the highlights of the afternoon. The program was emceed by Mr. Chris Kong and Ms. KaiDi Yan.
The performances showcased a rich variety of artistic talents, including classical dance, cha-cha dance, and duet dance performances. Vocal presentations featured duets, solo performances, and choral singing. The program also included poetry recitation and an erhu solo, offering attendees an enjoyable and memorable cultural experience.
Looking Forward to Gathering Again
After more than two hours of performances, fellowship, and celebration, the event concluded on a joyful note amid warm applause and laughter. The success of the gathering was made possible through the dedication and hard work of CCACC staff members and volunteers working behind the scenes.
Filled with festive cheer and heartfelt blessings, the celebration created lasting memories for attendees while further strengthening the sense of community and belonging among Evergreen Club members. The Club looks forward to welcoming members together again for future gatherings and many more meaningful moments of friendship and companionship.
