CCACC Community Services participated in an Asian Pacific American Heritage Month celebration at Riderwood Village in Silver Spring, Maryland. Home to approximately 2,200 senior residents, Riderwood Village welcomed CCACC to present a variety of Chinese cultural performances and activities, fostering cultural appreciation, understanding, and community engagement.
Ms. Chiao-Chiao Liu, Director of CCACC Community Services led members of the CCACC Evergreen Club and a team of dedicated volunteers in delivering a thoughtfully curated cultural program for Riderwood Village residents. The event began with welcoming remarks from Director Liu, who introduced the mission and services of CCACC Community Services and expressed sincere appreciation to Riderwood Village for its warm invitation and generous hospitality.
A Celebration of Art and Culture
The program featured three distinctive performances that highlighted the richness and diversity of Chinese culture. Audiences enjoyed a traditional Northeast Yangko folk dance, an erhu duet performance, and a classical Chinese dance presentation, each of which was warmly received by attendees.
Beyond the stage performances, interactive cultural activities also attracted significant interest. Volunteer calligraphers Huanfen Tan and Bingji Huang demonstrated the art of Chinese calligraphy and provided personalized Chinese name translations and handwritten calligraphy for residents, offering a meaningful and memorable cultural experience.
Following the event, many Riderwood Village residents expressed their appreciation and praised the program for its engaging performances and rich cultural content.
Cultural Exchange Earned High Praise
Yale Stenzler, Co-Chair of Riderwood Village, later sent a letter expressing heartfelt gratitude to CCACC. In the letter, he noted that more than 200 residents and staff members attended the celebration. The music and dance performances captivated audiences and provided a unique opportunity for participants to experience the beauty of Chinese arts and culture firsthand.
The calligraphy activity was also highlighted as one of the event's most popular attractions. Many residents were delighted to see their names translated and written in elegant Chinese characters, creating a meaningful keepsake and a memorable cultural exchange experience.
Stenzler also expressed strong appreciation for CCACC's mission—"Empowering Lives, Inspiring Hope, Bridging Communities"—and commended the organization for its valuable contribution to the Asian Pacific American Heritage Month celebration. He noted that the dedication and efforts of the CCACC team played an important role in the event's success.
CCACC remains committed to promoting multicultural understanding and community engagement. Through diverse cultural, artistic, and educational programs, the organization will continue to build connections across communities and share the richness of cultural traditions with broader audiences.
