When children are able to grow up healthy, run freely, learn joyfully, and gradually realize their full potential over time, it is a truly precious blessing.
Yet within our community, there are still children with special needs who face a more challenging path. They may struggle with language development, emotional regulation, social interaction, and behavioral growth. Their parents, too, often navigate worry, isolation, and uncertainty as they seek support and hope for their children.
Since 2022, CCACC Health Center has hosted its annual Charity Pickleball Tournament to raise funds for Promise Camp. This program is a collaborative initiative established by a team of special education experts from the University of Maryland, CCACC Health Center, and Speech Garden. It is dedicated to providing structured social skills training for children with developmental delays or special needs, while also offering parents professional support in caregiving strategies, advocacy, and resource navigation.
The program includes a wide range of activities such as emotional regulation, peer interaction, turn-taking, communication skills, sports and games, and hands-on projects. Parent workshops are also offered to support families in learning and growing together within a safe, inclusive, and culturally responsive environment, helping them gradually build confidence and resilience.
This is more than just a tournament, it is a shared effort to bring hope. Let us come together to light the way forward for these children.
We sincerely invite you to join us and help create more possibilities for them. You may support this initiative in the following ways:
