Virtual Event to Honor Asian Pacific American Heritage Month

Friday, May 15, 2020
11:00am - 12:00pm

一筆穿雲:永遠的華府特派員劉屏的軍魂國魂與靈魂 A Penstroke Through the Clouds: Forever Washington’s Correspondent Liu Ping and His Military Spirit, National Spirit and Soul

The late Liu Ping, a well-known correspondent for The China Times, a newspaper published in Taiwan, spent 23 years in Washington, D.C. interviewing countless US and Taiwan dignitaries and following current affairs in detail, setting a benchmark for reporters. His articles have spurred analysis of the situation at home and abroad, and he has also reported on some important topics (such as comfort women, etc.), following many stories through time and offering impactful commentary. Through his book, readers can be inspired by his spirit, efforts, and the stories he left behind, which are all models of journalism.

In this virtual presentation, Mr. Ping Liu's wife, Li-fang Liu (Deputy Executive Director, Chinese Culture and Community Service Center in Gaithersburg, MD) will talk about the creation and publication of this book and its behind-the-scene stories. Mrs. Liu will share how Chinese culture and heritage impacts the Liu family's immigration story. Mrs. Liu's presentation will be in Chinese. English interpretation is available from her daughter.

A special virtual cultural event to celebrate Asian Pacific Heritage Month in May.
