The Chinese Culture and Community Service Center (CCACC) upheld its core values of compassion, integrity, and harmony throughout the year and was committed to serving the community in a practical and dedicated manner. From children as young as two to seniors over one hundred, CCACC provided comprehensive, one-stop services including adult day healthcare, medical care, home care, children's education, sports, and cultural and social programs. Each year, CCACC also organized a Retreat to encourage reflection and growth, take a broader strategic perspective, plan for the future, and strengthen team cohesion and execution.
This year's Retreat was held on March 14 at the elegant CCACC Art Gallery. The session was chaired by Mr. Timothy Chi (Board Member of CCACC Board of Directors). After enjoying a nutritious breakfast prepared by the CCACC Food Service Department, the board members, Ms. Rita S. Lewi (Executive Director of CCACC), and senior advisors began the morning agenda. With a sincere and dedicated attitude, participants reviewed and assessed the overall status of CCACC's seven major divisions, four service locations, and hundreds of staff members from the perspectives of personnel, organizational culture, and structure.
Cross-Division Exchange and Operational Review
Following a short midday break, division directors joined the Retreat. While having lunch, participants listened to presentations from each operational division to gain a deeper understanding of their target populations, key drivers, challenges and risks, opportunities and outlook, capital needs, operating expenses, and resource efficiency. At the same time, discussions were held on collaborative relationships among divisions, along with analyses of potential concerns and current priorities.
Strategic Discussion and Future Direction
The afternoon session focused on personnel systems, organizational culture, financial health, and strategies to enhance both the breadth and depth of services. After hours of concentrated discussion, participants remained highly engaged and actively sought the best solutions. As Board Member Mr. Timothy Chi aptly noted, "Nothing could be accomplished overnight; everything was a process shaped by time and context." A good start needed to be supported by clear implementation plans, appropriate budgeting, and strong execution.
In closing, Dr. Yuchi Huang (Chairman of CCACC Board of Directors) once again expressed his appreciation for the collective contributions of the board and executive team. He emphasized the importance of keeping in mind CCACC's dual core mission as a nonprofit organization: to provide caring community services and to establish sound operational and financial systems. In today's rapidly changing world, improving effectiveness required not only dedication, hard work, and wisdom, but also the ability to keep both thinking and action up to date, while leveraging both tangible and intangible technologies, including transformative artificial intelligence.
Team Bonding and Warm Moments
The Retreat also served as a meaningful opportunity to strengthen team connections. The event coincided with the birthday of Board Member Mr. Terry Hsiao. After a group rendition of the birthday song, Mr. Hsiao delivered a heartfelt speech. The CCACC Food Service Department also showcased its culinary skills by preparing a variety of delicious dishes, creating a warm and enjoyable atmosphere. Ms. Chiao-Chiao Liu (Director of CCACC Community Services) led everyone in revisiting the board's signature song, "Tomorrow Will Be Better," adding a joyful touch to the event.
