The CCACC Art Gallery successfully held the joint exhibition "Discoveries: Collaboration and Exploration in Watercolor" on Sunday, March 15, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. The exhibition featured eight watercolor artists from the Takoma Watercolor Group (TWG) in Montgomery County, presenting a visual showcase that combined a spirit of exploration with artistic dialogue.

A total of 61 works were exhibited. The participating artists not only demonstrated strong mastery of traditional watercolor techniques but also embraced an open and enthusiastic approach to experimentation. They explored a variety of materials and creative methods, including specialty papers, ink, stencils, gouache, pastels, as well as natural and found materials, adding rich layers and fresh expression to their works.

The opening reception began promptly at 2:00 p.m. Ms. Rita S. Lewi (Executive Director of CCACC & Director of CCACC Art Gallery) delivered the opening remarks. E.D. Lewi expressed her sincere appreciation to the guests and the eight participating artists, and highly praised the artistic quality and creative expression of the exhibition.

Following her remarks, Ms. Barbara Bell, one of the participating artists spoke next. She thanked the CCACC Art Gallery for providing a valuable platform for artists to present their work. She then introduced the other participating artists one by one: Mr. David R. Daniels, Ms. Jane Salomon, Mr. Michael F. Shibley, Ms. Margo Kabel, Ms. Monika A. Griff, Ms. Diane Rudzinski, and Mr. Jim Burks.

For the past sixteen years, the Takoma Watercolor Group (TWG) had met weekly. Through these regular gatherings, members had continuously exchanged ideas, inspired one another, and grown together under the guidance of their mentor and close friend, Mr. David R. Daniels.

It was also worth noting that Montgomery County Sheriff Mr. Maxwell Uy attended the event in person. He warmly engaged with the artists and joined them for group photos. During the exhibition, guests enjoyed refreshments thoughtfully prepared by the artists while sharing creative insights, creating a warm and friendly atmosphere throughout the venue.

This exhibition marked TWG's third joint show at the CCACC Art Gallery since 2017. The works on display not only reflected the creative energy generated through long-term collaboration, but also demonstrated each artist's personal artistic growth over time, as well as their thoughtful reflections on life and nature through art.

The CCACC Art Gallery sincerely invited community members and art enthusiasts to visit the exhibition and experience the diverse beauty and depth of watercolor art.
