The 99th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony of the City of Gaithersburg (Jingle Jubilee & Tree Lighting) was held on the evening of December 5, 2025, at the City Hall Concert Pavilion. To address the severe cold weather, the organizers implemented several thoughtful arrangements this year, including the installation of tents and heaters to ensure warmth and comfort for both attendees and performers. Despite the low temperatures, the event drew a large crowd, creating a festive atmosphere filled with holiday warmth and cheer.
The celebration officially opened with holiday greetings delivered by Gaithersburg Mayor Jud Ashman and his team, who extended warm wishes for the upcoming Christmas and New Year. Maryland State Delegate Joseph Vogel was also in attendance, adding to the significance of the occasion. The event featured a wide range of performances, including music, dance, and singing. In addition to enjoying the dazzling tree lights and festive decorations, attendees had the opportunity to take photos with Santa Claus, snowmen, and other holiday characters, as well as participate in interactive activities such as holiday crafts and writing letters to Santa. Hot chocolate, desserts, and a variety of beverages were also available on-site, offering something for everyone.
As one of the key representatives of Gaithersburg's diverse cultural community, the Chinese Culture and Community Service Center (CCACC) was once again honored to be invited to participate in this historic city celebration, which boasts a nearly century-long tradition. Over the years, CCACC has been a frequent participant in the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, showcasing the richness of Chinese culture through a variety of artistic performances and continuing to contribute to the city's vibrant cultural landscape. The Center has played an important role in connecting different ethnic communities and promoting cross-cultural exchange.
At this year's celebration, CCACC presented three dynamic and distinctive dance performances, all of which received enthusiastic applause from the audience.
With a history spanning 99 years, the Gaithersburg's Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony not only carries the city's cherished memories but also reflects the growth and unity of its community. As the event approaches its milestone 100th anniversary, CCACC will continue to serve the community through culture and the arts, working hand in hand with the City of Gaithersburg.
Let us look forward to the 100th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony next year, as we light the way toward an even brighter future, rooted in a rich and meaningful history.
