The CCACC Guzheng Club is offering a Beginner Guzheng Course this fall and is now accepting new students. The course starts from the basics, teaching fundamental playing techniques, fingerings, and several simple introductory pieces. Students, parents, working professionals, and retirees are all welcome to experience traditional Chinese music and enjoy its relaxing and enriching effects.

The course includes 12 sessions, running from September 13 to December 13, 2025 (Two sessions will be skipped due to holidays). Classes are held on Saturdays from 4:00 to 5:00 PM. Tuition is $120 for CCACC members and $150 for non-members. Students are required to bring their own guzheng. Classes take place in Room 226, CCACC (9318 Gaither Road, Suite 215, Gaithersburg, MD 20877).

The course is taught by Ms. Alice Kan, who has volunteered at CCACC since September 2003. For over 20 years, she has offered spring and fall guzheng courses, providing enthusiasts with the opportunity to learn together. In support of the community, she donates all tuition fees from each course to CCACC.

Since founding the Alice Guzheng Ensemble in 2002, Alice Kan has promoted the popularization of the guzheng through performances at universities, government agencies, libraries, and shopping centers. Her ensemble has performed at Capitol Hill, the Senate, the Library of Congress, the Washington Monument Grounds, the National Mall at the Smithsonian, George Mason University Music Hall, Strathmore, and the Kennedy Center, contributing significantly to the promotion of Chinese music culture.
