Day of National Service and Conservation Corps Day
National Service and Conservation Corps Day is on June 27 in Greenbelt, Maryland. This is an annual tradition that The Corps Network (https://corpsnetwork.org/) carries out in support of conservation corps across the country. As part of the service day, groups will remove invasive species, do trail maintenance work, and other things to support the park's needs.
This year it is particularly important to be a part of this celebration as civilian corps across the nation have lost federal funding and are fighting to keep their young adult workforce development programs in place.

In celebration of National Service and Conservation Corps Day, join us on June 27 for The Corps Network's 10th Great Outdoors Day of Service. This event unites young adults from Corps across the Eastern U.S., as well as many friends and partners of the Corps movement, for service projects at iconic parks in and around the Nation's Capital. The purpose of this event is to:
- Inspire people to get outside and contribute to the preservation of America’s natural spaces. Hiking, biking, camping, fishing – so many outdoor activities would not be possible without proper stewardship of our park infrastructure and resources. All of us can pitch in to maintain the places and habitats that support our favorite activities.
- Raise awareness about the role of service and stewardship in protecting and improving public lands.
- Celebrate the service of the stewards who protect our natural treasures.
- Make a Difference. We hope to make a dent in the backlog of maintenance projects at parks in the nation's capital, helping our resource management partners focus on other priority projects.
