This Sunday, the Marine Chamber Orchestra will take the stage to perform this year's Young People's Concert. The performance will take place at 2 p.m. on March 30 at Rachel M. Schlesinger Concert Hall and Arts Center in Alexandria, Va. The concert is free and open to the public.

This year's Young People's Concert will feature Magic Pearl, a colorful shadow puppet play with live original music! Adapted from the Chinese folktale "The Bright Pearl," Magic Pearl tells the story of Phoenix and Dragon, who become unlikely friends while creating a beautiful pearl from an ordinary pebble. When the pearl is stolen by the Spirit Queen of the West, Phoenix and Dragon go on a perilous journey to get it back. Will their unusual friendship survive the ordeal?

The show is equal parts live concert and mixed media theatrical performance, perfect for families. Following the program, children are invited to try the band's instruments and the show's shadow puppets in our "musical petting zoo" and "try-a-puppet station!"
