City of Gaithersburg Announces Closures, Cancellations

Gaithersburg, MD (March 13, 2020) The City of Gaithersburg is closely coordinating with state and county health and emergency response agencies and we have enacted policies and procedures to help protect the health and safety of our residents, employees, program participants, and patrons.

In an attempt to try and slow down the spread of the disease, we encourage you to:

  • Avoid mass gatherings.
  • Avoid non-essential travel.
  • Stay away from others when you are sick. Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Avoid crowded areas or places where you might interact with people who are sick.
  • Keep distance between yourself and other people.

Please rely on trusted sources for the most up-to-date information about coronavirus, including what to do if you are experiencing symptoms. We encourage residents to visit the Montgomery County Health and Human Services website.

CITY STATUS

The City’s administrative offices are open for business and operations are continuing. Note that staff coverage may be limited.

Legislative Meetings

Mayor and City Council Work Sessions are cancelled. Regular meetings are being streamlined to contain essential business only. Presentations and ceremonial proclamations are postponed. Public comment is encouraged via e-mail to cityhall@gaithersburgmd.gov. Content of the Mayor and City Council meetings is tweeted in real time.

Meetings of the Planning Commission, Board of Appeals and Historic District Commission will be held only if necessary. Public comment is encouraged via e-mail to planning@gaithersburgmd.gov.

Legislative meetings are aired live on the City’s cable channel, Comcast 13 and RCN/FiOS 25, on YouTube, and via the website at www.gaithersburgmd.gov.
