11.1.24 Enrollment for 2025 Affordable Care Act Insurance Opens on 11/01

2025 Affordable Care Act (ACA) Health Insurance Open Enrollment period starts on November 1, 2024, and ends on January 15, 2025. During this time, Maryland Health Connection (MHC), Maryland's official health insurance platform, accepts applications daily from 5 a.m. to 1 a.m. To learn more about or enroll in a suitable health insurance plan, please click here to visit the platform for more information.

The Affordable Care Act (ACA) is a significant health insurance law passed in the United States in 2010, aimed at expanding health insurance coverage, reducing healthcare costs, and improving the quality of health insurance.

Here are the important dates for enrolling in annual health insurance:

· 11/01/2024: Health insurance enrollment start date. On this day, you can register for the first time, renew, or change your health insurance plan. Coverage can begin as early as 01/01/2025.

· 12/15/2024: This is the last day to enroll or make changes to your health insurance plan to ensure coverage begins on 01/01/2025.

· 01/01/2025: If you enrolled in or made changes to your health insurance and paid the first premium by 12/15, 2024, your coverage will take effect on this date.

· 01/15/2025: This is the last day of the open enrollment period and your last chance to enroll in or change your annual health insurance plan (with coverage starting 02/01/2025). After this date, you can only enroll or make changes if you qualify for a Special Enrollment Period.

· 02/01/2025: If you enrolled in or made changes to your health insurance plan and paid the first premium between 12/16/2024, and 01/15/2025, your coverage will take effect on this date.
