CCACC Health Center successfully held the 2024 Annual Health Fair on September 28, attracting hundreds of community residents. This year's Health Fair not only offered a variety of free health screenings, flu vaccinations, medical services, welfare consultations, and on-site doctor consultations but also featured 27 exhibition booths from Maryland state, Montgomery County government agencies, and community organizations, providing abundant healthcare resources to local residents.
The Health Fair was held at 2 PM in the hall on the first floor of the Chinese Culture and Community Service Center (CCACC), with many participants from different ethnic backgrounds in attendance. Upon arrival, everyone first registered at the front desk and received a questionnaire before entering the venue. Ms. Kate Lu (Director of the CCACC Health Center) personally greeted the participants in the lobby and introduced the services offered at the fair, while explaining the steps for receiving gifts. During the event, each exhibition booth had long lines, with many residents’ eager to receive flu vaccinations and undergo comprehensive health screenings.
At the Health Fair, not only Dr. Yuchi Huang (Chairman of CCACC), Ms. Rita Lewi (Executive Director of CCACC), Ms. Li-Fang C. Liu (Deputy Executive Director of CCACC), and many CCACC staff members actively involved, but Mr. Sidney Katz (Montgomery County Councilmember & former Gaithersburg Mayor) along with Beth Shuman (Chief of Staff for Montgomery County Councilmember Gabe Albornoz) also attended the fair in person.
Councilmember Katz highly praised the CCACC Health Center for its long-standing efforts in organizing various services benefiting local residents and encouraged broader promotion of community activities to raise awareness and participation. Ms. Lu also discussed with Councilmember Katz the current challenges and needs faced by the CCACC Health Center, as well as plans for relocating to a new site.
After completing their questionnaires and visiting a designated number of booths, participants received free fresh produce and a variety of small gifts. The successful organization of the Annual Health Fair would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of CCACC staff and volunteers. CCACC extends special thanks to the collaborating organizations that provided services for the fair and contributed 200 free fresh produce packages, ensuring that community residents gained valuable health information and care.
