Festival of India – A Vibrant Celebration of Culture, Community, and Tradition

September 21 - 22, 2024, at the Howard County Fairgrounds


Howard County, MD: The vibrant colors, rhythms, and traditions of India will come alive at the 6th Annual Festival of India, set to take place on September 21st and 22nd 2024 at the Howard County Fairgrounds. This much-anticipated event, organized by the Indian Cultural Association of Howard County, brings together thousands of people to celebrate the rich diversity of India and was voted the Best Festival of Howard County!

The Festival of India Is the Biggest Desi Entertainment and Shopping Extravaganza in Maryland! It is a 2-day celebration of the richness of Indian culture and heritage, its art, music, dance, entertainment, and cuisine for family-fun entertainment for all ages! Entry and parking are both free.

A Feast for the Senses

The festival will showcase a diverse array of traditional and contemporary Indian art forms, including classical dance performances such as Bharatanatyam, Kathak, and Odissi, as well as folk dances like Bhangra and Garba. Attendees will also enjoy live music ranging from soulful classical ragas to energetic Bollywood tunes, creating an unforgettable auditory experience. Over three hundred talented professional dancers, musicians, and artists from the DMV area will bring the festival to life.

The festival will feature a Bazaar of exquisite Indian clothing, jewelry, accessories, handicrafts, and more from vendors up and down the East Coast.  Get a head start on your Diwali and Christmas shopping! The showstopper Fashion Show will be on both days!

Festivalgoers will have the opportunity to savor an array of authentic Indian dishes - food stalls will represent the diverse culinary traditions of different regions, allowing everyone to explore the flavors of India. Raffle drawings for travel vouchers, dinner vouchers, and lots of other exciting giveaways will take place throughout the festival. 

The Festival of India is an annual celebration. “We are thrilled to bring this experience to our community, offering a unique opportunity for people to connect, learn, and enjoy the richness of Indian traditions. From the colorful performances to the exquisite cuisine, there’s something for everyone to enjoy," said Sanjay Srivastava, the President of the Indian Cultural Association. 

Indian Americans are the largest immigrant minority in Howard County. Asian Americans represent about 20% of the overall population in Maryland and surrounding areas.

Dr. Niti Srivastava, the Executive Director of the Indian Cultural Association of Howard County states, “The Festival of India is more than just an event; it is a celebration of community and cultural exchange. It offers a platform for people of all backgrounds to come together, learn, and appreciate the diversity that Indian culture brings to the global stage.
