Senator Clarence Lam, Delegate Lily Qi, and Delegate Sarah Wolek—all members of the Maryland Asian American and Pacific Islander Legislative Caucus—are organizing a fireside chat with Prince George's County Executive Angela Alsobrooks to have a conversation on August 13 with the AAPI community about issues that are important to them. County Executive Alsobrooks is the Democratic nominee running to represent Maryland in the United States Senate following the announced retirement of Senator Ben Cardin.

"I'm really pleased that Angela is taking the time to meet with our AAPI community," said Senator Lam, who is the only AAPI in the Senate of Maryland and the first AAPI to ever be a chair or vice chair of a standing Senate committee. "We have a crucial election coming up in November to fill a vacant U.S. Senate seat, and I know that Angela shares our values. This is an important opportunity for the entire community to see this and to highlight specific priorities that resonate with diverse AAPI voters across the state.”

The fireside chat is scheduled to begin at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, August 13 with doors opening at 6:30 PM. Senator Lam and Delegates Qi and Wolek will serve as the facilitators of the session and moderate Q&A with County Executive Alsobrooks. This free event is taking place at the Chinese Culture and Community Service Center in Gaithersburg. The address is: 9318 Gaither Road, Suite 215, Gaithersburg, MD 20877

"I' d like to thank CCACC for their willingness to provide a facility for this important community conversation with the County Executive," said Senator Lam.
