CCACC Art Gallery is pleased to host "Paradise on Paper: A Small Works on Paper Invitational Exhibition," which opens on August 3rd and ends on August 17th. Curated by the Chung Studio, this exhibition highlights 48 artworks created by 24 artists headed by Kang Lok Chung from Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Dongguan, Zhongshan, Baotou, and Kunming in China, New York, New Jersey, and Maryland. The opening reception will be held at 2:00-4:00 pm, Saturday, August 3rd. Please come and join us for face-to-face conversations with the fantastic artists.
The 48 artworks cover the subjects including landscapes, figures, flowers and fruits, animals, plants, old houses, etc. In addition to figurative depiction, there are semi-abstract and imagery drawings created with mediums of watercolor, colored pencil, pastel, acrylic, ink, wash, oil pastel, and mixed media. The title "Paradise on Paper" is derived from the fact that the show presents works on paper and from the joy that the artists feel in creating. In contrast, the exhibition hall is a paradise celebrating works of many different styles. "Paradise on Paper" showcases the charms of works on paper as well as its diversity, vitality, spontaneity, experimentation, delicacy, and randomness.
The 24 artists have diverse backgrounds. Some are famous professional artists or leaders of art institutions, while others are up-and-coming instructors at art academies, or emerging artists who have just started artistic creation in the last few years—This group exhibition aims at fostering dialogue across geography, age and seniority.
This is the third exhibition that the CCACC Art Gallery hosts for artist Kang L. Chung. A solo show in 2017 and "Paradise on Paper: Exceptional Insight" in 2018 were enthusiastically received by artists and residents in the Greater Washington DC area.
