7.23.24 Annual National Night Out Against Crime

Several Gaithersburg neighborhoods are joining communities across the country to participate in the National Night Out (NNO) Against Crime campaign.

On Tuesday, August 6, these neighborhoods will hold events to increase drug prevention awareness, generate support for anti-crime programs, encourage residents to be involved in their communities, and send a message that neighborhoods and businesses are organized to fight back against crime. The NNO programs help bring together residents, law enforcement agencies, local officials, civic groups, and neighborhood organizations.

Participating neighborhoods include:

  1. Bennington (6:30 – 8:30 p.m.) Social event on the Parcel K - large grassy area bordered by Longdraft Rd., Wade Ct., Oak Shade, and East Darby Ct. Meet police officers from the Gaithersburg Police Department and allied agencies. Explore a police cruiser and learn about a wide variety of safety topics all while enjoying family fun activities for all ages including games, giveaways, and more.
  2. Kentlands/Lakelands (6 – 8:30 p.m.) Family fun activities for all ages at the Clubhouse, 485 Tschiffely Square Rd. Meet police officers from the Gaithersburg Police Department and allied agencies.
  3. Montgomery Meadows (5 – 8 p.m.) Social event at the pavilion at Travis Park, 391 Travis Ave. Meet police officers from the Gaithersburg Police Department and learn about a wide variety of safety topics.
  4. Saybrooke (4 – 7 p.m.) Social event at the pool on Saybrooke Oaks Blvd. Meet police officers from the Gaithersburg Police Department and learn about a wide variety of safety topics.

Casey Community Center will also host NNO events from 6 to 8 p.m. at 810 S. Frederick Ave. Meet police officers from the Gaithersburg Police Department and allied agencies. This annual community-building event builds neighborhood camaraderie to make neighborhoods safer and a more caring place to live. Casey's event achieves this goal in a way that is truly enjoyable for all ages.

Explore police cruisers and learn about a wide range of safety topics while enjoying a DJ, line dancing demonstrations, acoustic melodies, crafts, games and giveaways. This year's event includes a community resource fair with agencies that provide services ranging from health screenings, financial and housing advice, plus food assistance, educational and literary resources, and more.
