7.23.24 Call for Language Partners for Summer Internship Asian and Pasifika Language Program
OCA National is in the process of developing an Asian and Pasifika Language Program for the upcoming 2025 summer internship. This new program aims to teach heritage speakers of Asian and Pasifika languages skills to communicate in workplace and public service environments and introduce new speakers to basic skills in their target language.
We are currently looking for multilingual speakers who would be interested in serving as language partners for our interns! Language partners would meet with interns weekly for the duration of the internship (approximately 30 hours total from early June to mid-August), working on spoken and applied language skills. We are still looking for partners for the following languages:
- Arabic (MSA Dialect)
- Bengali
- Hindi-Urdu
- Mandarin
- Samoan
- Vietnamese
Language partners would preferably be based in the Washington DC area during the internship period, but we are also more than happy to accommodate virtual or hybrid meetings. No certification in education is required—we are ideally looking for an individual who has experience working in a professional or public service environment in the target language. Language partners will be compensated on an honorarium basis (honorarium amount TBD).
