1.24.2024 FY24 School-Based Food Assistance Grant Program Application Now Open

The Office of Food Systems (OFSR) and the Office of Grants Management (OGM) seek grant applications for the County's FY 2024 School-Based Food Assistance Program from organizations providing school-based food services at MCPS sites.

Please note the deadline for submitting applications is 11:59 P.M. on Sunday, January 28, 2024.

Montgomery County Office of Grants Management - Grants Application Platform

The Office of Food Systems Resilience (OFSR), in partnership with the Office of Grants Management (OGM), is soliciting grant applications for the County' s FY 2024 School-Based Food Assistance Program from food assistance provider organizations that are currently providing school-based food assistance services at Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) sites. $480,000 in total grant funding is available for innovative programs to increase food security for students and their families through food assistance services co-located at an MCPS school site. Funding may be awarded to new initiatives, or expansion of existing programs at additional sites. All awarded programs through the FY24 School-Based Food Assistance Grant Program must: 

  1. Demonstrate past experience with successful operation of school-based food assistance programs in partnership with MCPS; 
  2. Describe a quickly actionable program model for services at new school(s); and 
  3. Identify potential locations, capacity, resource needs, and format for expanded services. 

The minimum award that applicants may request is $20,000 and maximum award is $480,000. Final award amounts may be lower than $20,000. The performance period for these grant awards is anticipated to be on/about February 19, 2024 to on/about June 30, 2024. Key dates for this program are:

  1. Application Opens:  Tuesday, January 9, 2024
  2. Application Closes:  Sunday, January 28, 2024 at 11:59 PM

In addition to submitting this application, organizations should also do the following:

· Register and create a profile on this platform for each team member who will be working on your application.  Click on the green "Register" button in the top right corner to get started.

· Verify that your organization is registered with the Maryland State Department of Assessment and Taxation (SDAT).  Click here to go to the SDAT Business Express site to confirm.  Even if your organization is registered in another jurisdiction, you must be registered with SDAT for Montgomery County to finalize an award with your organization.

· If your organization is not in Good Standing with SDAT, take the necessary steps to get back into Good Standing.  SDAT will advise what steps are required.  Montgomery County cannot finalize an award with you or organization if you are not in Good Standing.  Your application for a grant could be disqualified if you are not in Good Standing.

· Register with the Montgomery County Central Vendor Registration System (CVRS) by clicking here.  If you or your organization receives an award from the County then you will need to be registered with CVRS to receive payments.
