The Chesapeake Bay Trust (Trust) in partnership with the Montgomery County Government, Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is excited to announce the Clean Water Montgomery Grant Program, an opportunity to support watershed restoration and outreach projects and programs throughout the County! • Type 1: Public Outreach and Stewardship
o Knowledge Building (up to $40,000)
o Behavior Change (up to $60,000)
• Type 2: Community Based Restoration Implementation (up to $100,000)
• Type 3: Tree Planting and Reforestation projects (up to $100,000)
• Type 4: Litter Reduction in the Anacostia River Watershed (up to $50,000)
Why apply to the program?
• Receive grant funding for environmental restoration projects designed to alleviate stormwater runoff, erosion, and minor flooding
o Successfully completed restoration projects will be encouraged to apply for a Stormwater Management Credit, which can result in a reduction of up to 60% of the Water Quality Protection Charge for non-profit organizations
• Engage your community members in volunteer projects to support clean water and a healthy, more livable environment
• Connect with local groups working to tackle environmental issues in support of cleaner rivers, streams, and other bodies of water, and healthier natural resources in Montgomery County!
Program funds this year include federal funds. Federal funds may be awarded to non-profit organizations with 501(c)(3) status or other status (e.g. 501(c)(4)) for non-profit organizations. This funding source will support green infrastructure (project type 2 – Community Based Restoration Implementation) and tree planting (project type 3 – Tree Planting and Reforestation) projects. All projects must be implemented in Montgomery County, outside the municipalities of Gaithersburg, Rockville, and Takoma Park.
