On the afternoon of June 3rd, with clear skies and bright sunshine, the CCACC Youth Dragon Dance Team participated in the "Create the Future" exhibition and award ceremony  at the Universities at Shady Grove at the invitation of the KID Museum. The team performed the dragon dance to liven up the event. Fourteen teenagers between the ages of 11 and 17, after just eight weeks of training, mastered a complete set of complex dragon dance movements. Their coordination was almost impeccable, with synchronized running, jumping, and rolling actions that impressed the audience, earning them enthusiastic applause.

After the performance, the dragon dance team members lined up and paid their respect to the audience, displaying a courteous demeanor that touched everyone present. Among the audience were middle school students, their parents, and the judging committee members, who, upon hearing the drumbeats, emerged from the exhibition hall to watch the performance. After the performance, the dragon dance team led the audience from the Biological Sciences and Engineering Building to the conference hall adorned with a medieval sundial. Many people expressed their gratitude to the dragon dance team. The young dragon dancers, dressed in red dragon shirts and yellow dragon pants, with nine of them holding colorful long dragon, one holding a dragon pearl, two playing the drums, and two leading the procession with a CCACC banner, formed a magnificent sight against the backdrop of blue skies, white clouds, and lush green grass—a beautiful golden dragon in motion.

The parents of the dragon dance team members enthusiastically supported the event, with some holding flags and some taking photos. The founder of CCACC and his entire family also showed their full support, representing three generations. This event showcased the integration of Chinese traditional culture with the multiculturalism of the United States, demonstrating the charm of a diverse community. One parent commented, "This event not only promotes traditional Chinese culture and enhances our children's physical fitness but also teaches them teamwork and allows them to make new friends." Last but not the least, we would like to extend a special thank you to our transportation department for providing two buses and two experienced and caring drivers, allowing us to travel without worries. We are deeply grateful!

This was the first mission of the CCACC Youth Dragon Dance Team after its reformation in 2023, and it was successfully completed. We hope to have more students in grades 7-12 join us. The dragon dance team promotes teamwork and spreads Chinese culture while providing SSL (Student Service Learning) hours. During the training seasons, training sessions are held for only one and a half hours per week, with the opportunity to represent the center in community festivals and events.
