Gaithersburg, MD (March 15, 2023) The City of Gaithersburg is hosting a Council in the Communities meeting for Area 2 on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Gaithersburg High School, 101 Education Boulevard. No RSVPs are necessary. On-site child activity area and snacks will be provided.
Area 2 includes:
• Neighborhoods: Asbury, Chestnut/Meem Historic Area, Deer Park, Russell/Brookes, and Walker Historic Area
• Condominiums: Russell Avenue and Summit Crossing
• Apartments: Brookes Manor, Gaitherhouse, Cedar Courts, Dalamar, Diamond Station, Forest Oak Towers, Freestate, Lakeside, Lanigan, Montgomery Park, The Oaks at Olde Towne, Park Station, Whetstone, Young, 214 Brookes Avenue, 425 North Frederick Avenue, and 439 North Frederick Avenue
Council in the Communities meetings feature elected officials and representatives of key City departments providing project updates and discussing concerns unique to each neighborhood. The City is divided into eight geographic areas, with the intention of having four meetings each calendar year, so each area will host a Council in the Communities Meeting once every two years. Among the presentations will be crime prevention, community and neighborhood services, development updates, code enforcement, Public Works projects and services, youth services, and recreational opportunities. Ample time will be left for a question and answer period with the Mayor and City Council Members.
