Gaithersburg Honors Military Personnel at Observance on November 11

 Gaithersburg, MD (November 2, 2022) In observance of Veterans Day, City offices and most facilities will be closed on Friday, November 11, 2022, with the exception of the following:

  • • The Activity Center will be closed to the general public, but open for scheduled City programs.
  • • Youth Centers will run on regular schedule.
  • • Amazing Afternoons will run on regular schedule.
  • • The Aquatic Center will open from 5:15 to 6:30 p.m. for lap swim only.
  • • Police Department Administrative Offices will be open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • • The Arts Barn will be open for an 8 p.m. performance of Improbable Comedy.
  • • City Sports practice and field rentals will run on a regular schedule.

 

The collection of recycled materials will take place as scheduled. On-demand bulk pick up for residents whose regular recycling day is Friday, November 11 will be unavailable. Appointments can be made for the following week using the online form, by e-mailing BulkPickUp@gaithersburgmd.gov, or by calling 301-258-6370.

The entire community is invited to join the City of Gaithersburg for its annual Veterans Day Observance on Friday, November 11, 2022, honoring and recognizing all U.S. military personnel who play an important role in safeguarding our nation and our future. The observance takes place at 11 a.m. at the City Hall Concert Pavilion, 31 South Summit Avenue. The patriotic ceremony will include words and music to commemorate the occasion, followed by a solemn wreath-laying ceremony. Joining the observance will be special guest speaker Colonel Jeff Marquez, United States Army (Retired).
