Gaithersburg, MD (August 30, 2022) Gaithersburg's Arts on the Green presents Relief from the Heat, an art exhibit featuring the Washington Water Color Association. The exhibit is on display through January 22, 2023, at Kentlands Mansion, 320 Kent Square Road. Viewing is by appointment, Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Please call 301-258-6425 to schedule your visit. Masks and social distancing are optional but encouraged.

Meet the artists and view their works, learn more about the Association, and enjoy refreshments at a free reception on Thursday, October 13 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The reception for the Sisterhood: Fine Crafts exhibit at the Arts Barn will also be held that evening and attendees are invited to visit both galleries.

"We are so delighted to welcome the Washington Water Color Association to the Kentlands Mansion Gallery," says Jaree Donnelly, City of Gaithersburg Gallery Program Coordinator. "Their watercolor work is perfect for this historic building, and we hope our patrons will enjoy seeing the variety of subject matter and styles from this talented group of artists. The translucency of the medium is lovely, and visitors will enjoy works featuring cool blues and greens in the entry foyer, the colors of autumn in the Yellow Room, with paintings featuring purples, pinks and neutrals in the upstairs hall and Bride's Room.  There is something for everyone."

The exhibit features 51 beautiful pieces of watercolor art with 15 members participating. Artists include Anne Albright, Noelie Angevine, Linda Daniels Cermak, Michael Flynn, Tara Hamilton, Margo Kabel, Carol Leo, Alexandra Michaels, Crystal Parmele, Diane Rudzinski, Martina Sestakova, Maria Sola-Simon, Matthew Topoleski, Alexandra Treadaway-Hoare, and Billie Van Wieren.

Founded as the Washington Water Color Club on March 28, 1896, the Washington Water Color Association is one of the oldest societies of professional artists still active today. The purpose of the Association is to bring together artists in the Washington D.C. area to nurture their craft, share mutual interests, enrich their art experiences, and offer opportunities to exhibit their work in as many venues as possible. They are united in their desire to create and celebrate the world around us, adding to its beauty through water media works on paper or other two-dimensional surfaces.
