To close out the Asian American & Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month, the Asian American Health Initiative (AAHI) and the Office of Community Partnerships (OCP) would like to hold a virtual conversation on Asian American issues on Tuesday, May 31 at 7 p.m. We would like to invite every community (especially non-Asian communities) to join this virtual conversation. The purpose of this event is to discuss issues in the Asian community as well as to educate the audience by giving a glimpse of the Asian American experience. We are also going to invite Montgomery County employees so they can better understand the community they serve.
In order to achieve this, we organized a panel with diverse backgrounds. For our panel, we have:
• Councilmember Robert Wu, City of Gaithersburg
• Dr. Binod Paudyal, Lecturer, Asian American Studies Program at the University of Maryland
• Ms. Li-fang C. Liu, Deputy Executive Director, Chinese Culture and Community Service Center
• Ms. Sanjana Quasem, Program Manager of the Asian American Health Initiative
• Ms. Tanirika Choudhry, Director of the Asian American Progressive Student Union
It is our hope that the more the communities learn about each other, the less hate, violence and misunderstand there will be with everyone.
