3.25.2022 MCPS Asian Pacific Island Desi American (APIDA) Studies program

During the rise of hate crimes against Asians last year, Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) held several dialogues with Asian students.  From those meetings, MCPS decided to pilot an Asian Pacific Island Desi American (APIDA) Studies program.  The pilot APIDA Studies elective class will be offered in the fall semester of 2022 in three high schools:  Clarksburg, Richard Montgomery and Paint Branch.  Please help promote this elective class so it can be offered at more schools.  This is an important class for Asian youth during a time they are still searching and developing a sense of self.  This class is also important to non-Asian youth, because the more we learn about each other, the less we have to fear, hate, or have misunderstandings with each other.  Please help to promote this elective class with your community.
