Gaithersburg, MD (March 11, 2022) The Gaithersburg Environmental Affairs Committee is hosting the City's first ever Fix It Fair on Saturday, April 23, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Casey Community Center. Gaithersburg residents can make an appointment to bring in select personal items for free repair at this Green Month activity. Registration is required and up to two different items may be repaired, including textiles, tool sharpening (electric mower blades, pruners etc.), lamps, and small appliances. Register for an appointment online here.
Register only one item per time slot and provide as much detail as possible. Please note, volunteer fixers cannot guarantee repairs. They will review your request prior to the event to confirm that they can attempt to fix it. All attendees must sign a hold harmless agreement before the repairs begin.
If spaces are full, please sign up for the waitlist as space may open up once our fixers review all of the requests. The waitlist will also help determine if future events would be useful to the community.
The "right to repair" and the ability to fix material is crucial to transitioning away from a disposal society and diverting useful materials from landfills. Explore all of our upcoming Green Month activities here.
