The City of Gaithersburg Homeless Services Division operates Wells/Robertson and DeSellum Houses, transitional housing programs for homeless men and women in recovery from substance use disorder. Residents receive a variety of direct services and supports to aid in recovery and position them for successful transition to permanent housing. A homeless advocacy and street outreach element connects people living on the streets with referrals to addiction treatment, mental health and social service programs. Case management is provided to formerly homeless individuals now living independently.
The Friends of Wells/Robertson House, Inc. was formed as a 501(c)(3) organization in 1993 to raise funds towards an endowment that would help sustain the operations of Wells/Robertson House. Over the years, the organization has made in-kind and monetary donations to the City of Gaithersburg to provide opportunities for team building activities, an annual Recovery Picnic for residents and graduates, vocational counseling, scholarships at Montgomery College, attendance at the annual Narcotics Anonymous convention, and more.
