Gaithersburg, MD (February 17, 2022) The City of Gaithersburg, in partnership with The Peterson Companies and rio, will host the 20th St. Patrick's Day Parade at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2022. The parade meanders down Grand Corner Avenue at rio, located near I-370 and Washingtonian Boulevard. Following the parade there will be live entertainment on the lakefront plaza until 2 p.m. Free parking is available in three garages along Washingtonian Boulevard.
Dozens of units will march in the parade, including Celtic dancers, bagpipe bands, school groups, clowns, fire trucks, equestrian units, service organizations, and more. This year's Grand Marshal is 2019 Distinguished Friend of Gaithersburg Mary Canapary. The parade will be emceed by Carolyn Muller, Director of Parks, Recreation and Culture.
Community groups and other organizations are invited to march. Please note that due to health concerns related to the pandemic, no participants will be allowed to hand out materials during the parade this year. Participation in the St. Patrick's Day Parade by groups or organizations other than City of Gaithersburg officials, departments or committees does not constitute City of Gaithersburg endorsement.
