Safety Policies & Procedures in Place
Gaithersburg, MD – (February 1, 2022) Registration for Spring Youth and Teen Sports programs in the City of Gaithersburg is now open. Spring offerings include baseball, softball, soccer, volleyball, track & field, and speed & agility clinics. The City also offers Start Smart™ programs for 4 to 6 year-olds in tennis, baseball and golf. Start Smart is an international program designed to introduce youth, along with their parents, to the world of sports.
Policies are in place, including mandatory face masks for all indoor sports, to provide a safe environment for participants and spectators. Face masks are strongly encouraged outdoors for all people when a minimum of six feet of distance from others cannot be maintained. See more safety information below.
Registration for most programs is open until March 1. Some programs have limited space and will be filled on a first come, first served basis. Start Smart programs are limited to the first 20 participants. Register online and view program details here.

• JUGS Baseball – Coed – Grades 2 – 5
• Youth Soccer – Boys & Girls – Grades K – 5
• Teen Soccer – Boys & Girls – Grades 6 – 8
• Youth Volleyball – Boys & Girls – Grades 4 & 5
• Teen Volleyball – Boys & Girls – Grades 6 – 8
• Girls High School Volleyball – Grades 9 – 12
• Track & Field – Boys & Girls – Ages 7 – 14
• Speed & Agility Clinic – Coed – Ages 8 – 16
The primary goal of Gaithersburg Sports! programs is to offer a safe and positive environment for youth to develop physical and social skills, self-confidence and just have fun playing sports. During the pandemic, the City has implemented policies and procedures to fulfill this mission while taking every precaution to minimize the risk of exposure. Due to the unique conditions we are currently experiencing, all matters of this season are subject to change.
These policies include:
• Face masks are required for all participants, staff, coaches, officials, and spectators, at all indoor games, practices and meets.
• Face masks are strongly encouraged outdoors for all people when a minimum of six feet of distance from others cannot be maintained.
• Participants should bring their own water and hand sanitizer to practices and games.
• Officials will be using hand-held whistles.
