Gaithersburg, MD – (January 4, 2022) At the Mayor and City Council meeting on Monday, January 3, 2022, Parking Enforcement Coordinator Pete Ibrahim and the Youth Services Division Team were recognized with Employee Recognition Awards for the third quarter of calendar year 2021.

Made up of peers from each department, Gaithersburg's Employee Recognition Committee (ERC) reviews nominations for individuals and teams on a quarterly basis. These winners are then eligible for the annual Employee and Team of the Year Awards.

Pete Ibrahim, Parking Enforcement Coordinator with the Gaithersburg Police Department, was named Employee of the Third Quarter for taking the initiative to organize, coordinate and execute a pedestrian safety operation in the Crown Farm business district. He is also recognized for his initiative and dedication in assisting parking enforcement officials, City departments, individuals, business owners, and homeowner associations. Pete routinely responds to questions and concerns outside his normal working hours and consistently displays commitment to serving the public.

The Youth Services Team, comprised of Julius Arnold, Jake Hersom, Keegan Aragon, Ana Bonilla, Jocelynn Thomas, and Paul Barrow of the Department of Parks, Recreation and Culture, was named the Team of the Third Quarter. The Team was nominated for its work and commitment in providing programs for Gaithersburg youth and for bringing a sense of belonging and community to the young people they encounter. In working with individual youth, the Team has mentored them, encouraged their participation, and forged lasting bonds. The Team members effectively serve as excellent role models while striving to give positive experiences through the City's youth programs that each participant will never forget.
