1.7.2021 Arts Barn Seeks Student Volunteers for Summer Break

Gaithersburg, Md. (January 3, 2022) The Arts Barn is accepting applications for 2022 summer break student volunteers. Located in the heart of Kentlands, the Arts Barn offers enriching art education programs in the visual and performing arts for children ages 5 to 15 during summer break.

Student volunteers, who must be at least 14 years of age, will work with highly qualified teaching artists in a variety of disciplines while earning Student Service Learning (SSL) hours and valuable experience. Assignments include:

  • • Supervising students and ensuring their safety
  • • Assisting instructors and staff
  • • Serving as an Art Buddy (working with a camper one-on-one)

Summer programs, which run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., begin June 27 and run through August 12. The week of August 8, programming will be from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

A mandatory orientation will be held at the Arts Barn on June 18. Those interested in volunteering may complete the online application here. Applications must be received by May 14.

The Arts Barn will follow recommended health and safety policies to provide a safe environment for participants. Note that summer programs are subject to change.
