Gaithersburg, MD – (January 3, 2022) With the increase of COVID-19 infections due to the Omicron variant, the Young Artist Award Competition will return to a virtual format. The application deadline has been extended to January 22, 2022, and audition entries must be submitted in video format. The competition will now be conservatory style—that is, no individual instrument categories, with the students competing against each other regardless of their musical instrument. Please review the changes here.
All auditions must be video recorded and all pieces performed must be no more than 10 minutes in length. The video recording itself must be the work of the applicant or by an entity producing the video at the behest of said applicant. All videos must be unaltered, with no edits during the audition performance. No audio or visual enhancements of the video will be permitted. Submission files must be in MP4 or AVI format. An electronic PDF copy of the sheet music for each piece must be included with each submission.
All electronic submission materials must be sent to gaithersburgyaa@gmail.com. Please read the full list of submission instructions here.
The virtual Young Artist Award Concert will be presented free of charge on Vimeo February 4, 2022, at 7:30 p.m.
