Gaithersburg, MD (December 17, 2021) In observance of the Christmas and New Year's holidays, City of Gaithersburg facilities and offices will be closed on Fridays, December 24 and 31, 2021.

Gaithersburg Holiday Facility Schedule (alternate hours only noted if they differ from normal business hours):

Friday, December 24, 2021

  • • All City facilities are closed.
  • • Recycling will take place as scheduled; no Bulk Pick Up.
  • • Police Department Administrative Offices will open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Saturday, December 25, 2021

  • • All City facilities are closed.
  • • The Winter Lights Festival is closed.
  • • The Administrative Offices of the Gaithersburg Police Station are closed. Police patrol will remain on duty. For emergencies,     please call 911. For non-emergencies, please dial 301-279-8000 for dispatch.

Sunday, December 26, 2021

•The Arts Barn, Kentlands Mansion, Community Museum, and Activity Center at Bohrer Park are closed.

Friday, December 31, 2021

  • • All City facilities are closed.
  • • Recycling will take place as scheduled; no Bulk Pick Up.
  • •Police Department Administrative Offices will open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Saturday, January 1, 2022

  • • All City facilities are closed.
  • •The Administrative Offices of the Gaithersburg Police Station are closed. Police patrol will remain on duty. For emergencies,    please call 911. For non-emergencies, please dial 301-279-8000 for dispatch.

Sunday, January 2, 2022

·The Community Museum and Activity Center at Bohrer Park are closed.

Recycling will take place as scheduled on December 24 and 31. Loose leaf collection concludes on December 30.  Recycling includes newspaper, mixed paper, corrugated cardboard, and commingled materials (which should be separated from brush, branches, grass clippings, leaves and other yard trimmings) picked up by the City's contractor.

On-demand bulk pick up for residents whose regular recycling days are December 24 and 31 will be unavailable. Appointments can be made for the following week using the online form, by e-mailing BulkPickUp@gaithersburgmd.gov, or by calling 301-258-6370.

Stay up to date on recycling and yard waste service changes by subscribing to notifications from the City's Recycle Coach app.  

Regular trash and garbage collection for City residents is handled by private contractors. Please contact your HOA or your private contractor regarding the holiday collection schedule for these materials.
