11.19.2021 City of Gaithersburg Thanksgiving Holiday Closures and Recycling

Gaithersburg, MD  (November 15, 2021) In observance of Thanksgiving, most City facilities will be closed on Thursday, November 25 and Friday, November 26, with the exception of the following:

·The Aquatic Center will open Friday, November 26 from 5:15 to 8:30 p.m.

·The Arts Barn will open Friday, November 26 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for its Holiday Bazaar.

·Police Department Administrative Offices will open Friday, November 26 from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.

·Gaithersburg Youth Centers are closed November 24 – 26.

·The Winter Lights Festival opens on Friday, November 26. Tickets must be purchased in advance. Tickets will not be available at the admission booth. Purchase tickets here.

The collection of recycling and yard waste materials for residents whose regular collection day is Thursday, November 25, 2021, will take place the FOLLOWING Saturday, November 27. Recycling includes newspaper, mixed paper, corrugated cardboard, and commingled materials (which should be separated from brush, branches, grass clippings, leaves and other yard trimmings) picked up by the City's contractor.

Recycling and yard waste collection for Friday, November 26 will be picked up as scheduled. Loose leaf collection will not take place on November 25 and 26. All areas will be collected the preceding Monday through Wednesday, weather permitting.

On-demand bulk pick up for residents whose regular recycling days are November 25 and 26 will be unavailable. Appointments can be made for the following week using the online form, by e-mailing BulkPickUp@gaithersburgmd.gov, or by calling 301-258-6370.

Regular trash and garbage collection for City residents is handled by private contractors. Please contact your HOA or your private contractor regarding the holiday collection schedule for these materials.
