Job Description

The Office of Community Partnerships is seeking a Faith Community Outreach Manager.  This position will be working with a team under the supervision of the Director of the Office of Community Partnerships within the Community Engagement Cluster.

NOTE: This is to be a full-time merit-based position with benefits. The term will expire on December 31, 2022.  Continued employment in this position beyond December 31, 2022 will be contingent upon action by the County Executive elected on November 4, 2022.

This position will be working with a team under the supervision of the Director of the Office of Community Partnerships within the Community Engagement Cluster.  Areas of responsibility include but are not limited to the following:

  1. Identifying the assets, needs, issues, and concerns of the residents of Montgomery County with special emphasis on the faith community and helping the faith community present its needs and issues to County government and related independent agencies serving County residents.
  2. Working with County department representatives and other members of the Office of Community Partnerships to strengthen working relationships and build partnerships that improve service delivery from government, nonprofits, and faith organizations to all residents with special emphasis on the faith community.
  3. Working with the staff members of the Office of Community Partnerships to increase the cultural competence of the County government, nonprofits, and faith organizations in order to ensure that Montgomery County is an inclusive and equitable community to all of our residents.
  4. Helping organize and participate in community events as a speaker, presenter, representative, or guest on behalf of the Office of Community Partnerships and the Offices of the County Executive.
  5. Reviewing community event invitations and providing written recommendations and support documentation for public speaking engagements for the County Executive, Chief Administrative Officer, and members of the senior management team.
  6. Working with County staff and members of the Office of Community Partnerships to identify and train emerging faith community leaders with special emphasis on ensuring that County boards, committees, and commissions and boards of nonprofit and faith organizations reflect the diversity of the County's residents.
  7. Working with the Volunteer Center to promote volunteerism and service by the faith community.
  8. Planning and facilitating cultural programs and events highlighting the diversity of Montgomery County.
  9. Staffing the Faith Community Advisory Group meetings.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience:  Extensive (seven years) professional administrative experience in the area of public relations or program management providing community outreach or public policy or as a clergy serving faith congregations.

Education:  Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Public or Business Administration, or related fields.

Equivalency:  An equivalent combination of experience and education may be substituted.

Preferred Criteria

The applications of those individuals meeting the minimum qualifications will be reviewed to determine the extent, relevancy of training, and experience in the following areas:

  1. Knowledge and experience working with the faith community; 
  2. Experience working with people of diverse racial, ethnic, cultural, and religious backgrounds; 
  3. Experience analyzing community problems and developing sound and appropriate recommendations;
  4. Experience working with community groups and other public, private, and faith-based organizations;
  5. Experience implementing management and programmatic policies and strategies; and 
  6. Experience in collaborative problem-solving and building community partnerships.
