Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Montgomery County Board of Elections is encouraging all eligible voters to cast mail-in ballots. Voting by mail is a safe and secure way of voting.
Any registered voter who wants to vote by mail must apply for a ballot for the Presidential General Election. You must choose to either vote by mail or vote in person. If you request a vote by mail ballot, it will be your official ballot and you must return it through the U.S. Postal Service or bring it to an official drop box. If you try to vote at the polls after requesting a ballot by mail, you will cast a provisional ballot that adds time to your voting experience and will not be counted until after Election Day. This is necessary to prevent anyone from being able to vote twice.
You may apply for a vote by mail ballot in one of four ways:
The deadline for receipt of your completed application is Tuesday, October 20, 2020. After the date, a mail-in ballot can only be requested in person at our office – 18753 N. Frederick Avenue, Suite 210, in Gaithersburg. The office is open:
