Labor Day Closures & Recycling Notices, Water Park & Mini Golf Extend Season

Labor Day Recycling to be Picked Up the PRECEDING Saturday

Gaithersburg, MD (August 31, 2020) In observance of Labor Day, most City facilities will be closed on Monday, September 7, 2020, with the exception of the following:

  •    • The Miniature Golf Course will open from Noon to 8 p.m.
  •    • The Water Park will open to Residents/Aquatics Members ONLY: 8:30 to 11 a.m. for lap swimming by reservation only and Noon to 5 p.m. for open swim.
  •    • Police Department Administrative Offices will be open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. (Lobby hours 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., phones monitored from 5 to 9 p.m.)
  •    • Note that the regular Mayor and City Council Meeting will take place on Tuesday, September 8.
  •  

Water Park and Miniature Golf Course Extended Season

The Water Park will be open following Labor Day weekend through September 20, with lap swimming Monday through Thursday from 4 to 6:30 p.m., open swim on Fridays from 4 to 7 p.m., and open swim on Saturdays and Sundays from Noon to 7 p.m. Lap swimming is by reservation only.

The Miniature Golf Course will have additional fall hours through October 31, open Fridays from 4 to 8 p.m. and weekends Noon to 8 p.m.

Labor Day Virtual Salute

A Virtual Salute will replace this year’s Labor Day Parade. A retrospective video celebrating the history of the Parade will be available on the Gaithersburg Special Events Facebook page and on the City’s YouTube channel on September 7.

Recycling and Bulk Pick Up

The collection of recycled materials for residents whose regular recycling day is Monday, September 7, 2020, will take place on the PRECEDING Saturday, September 5. This includes newspaper, mixed paper, corrugated cardboard, and commingled materials, as well as  brush, branches, grass clippings, leaves and other yard trimmings, picked up by the City’s recycling contractor. On-demand bulk pick up for residents whose regular recycling day is Monday, September 7, 2020 will be unavailable. Starting in September, residents must schedule for a bulk pick up, which can be arranged for any of their regular recycling days, with a limit of one per month. Appointments are being accepted now via an online form, by e-mailing BulkPickUp@gaithersburgmd.gov, or by calling 301-258-6370.

Regular trash and garbage collection for City residents is handled by private contractors. Please contact your HOA or your private contractor regarding the holiday collection schedule for these materials.
