The families that have not responded to the census will cause Montgomery County to lose $4.6 billion in construction funds

62.6% of all households in the country have responded to the 2020 Census. Here in Montgomery County, our response rate is 72.8% and we rank 5th in the State. This means more than 1 in 4 households have not yet responded to the Census which could mean Montgomery County could lose 4.6 billion dollars in federal and state funds over the next 10 years for hospitals, schools, roads and social services. We need your help to ensure over 250,000 people are counted by August 11 which is when the Census Bureau will follow-up with households who have not yet responded.
We are hosting a number of outreach activities during Census Weekend such as joining food distribution events across the County with a special target on undercounted communities and hard-to-count Census tracts (neighborhoods). While everyone has until October 31 to complete their Census, August 11 is the date when households who have not responded will start to receive phone calls and visits from Census Bureau representatives to collect information. We need to encourage all of our communities to respond before follow-up begins.
