Several Recreation Facilities Reopen and Programs Resume

Gaithersburg, MD (June 22, 2020) Following guidance from the Montgomery County Health Department, the City of Gaithersburg will open several more facilities and resume some programming as part of its Phase 2 reopening the week of July 6.

“We were encouraged by how smoothly our Phase 1 reopening went, and we appreciate our residents and guests adhering to safety protocols to protect both themselves and our staff,” said Acting City Manager Dennis Enslinger. “We are currently bringing on additional personnel, conducting training, and adapting our operations, and we will be prepared to offer even more services and programs starting in early July.”

The City’s Phased Service Restoration Plan, which is updated regularly, can be found on the City’s website here. The Plan outlines what to expect in each phase. Specific details about how various facilities and programs will operate can be found on individual webpages.

With the coming of Phase 2, walk-in services will be allowed at City Hall, the Activity Center and the Police Station. Safety protocols will remain in place. Hours and staffing may be limited as many employees continue to telework.
