My name is Xueqin Lin and I am a doctoral student working under Prof. Chunyan Yang’s Risk,Resilience & Culture Lab at UC Berkeley. We are currently conducting a study to understand how Chinese American adolescents cope with a variety of risks and challenges during and after the COVID-19 pandemic, such as bullying, discrimination, racial identity crisis, problematic internet use, family communication, and distance learning. The goal of the study is to help increase public awareness and resources in families, schools, and local communities to promote Chinese American adolescents’ positive life adjustment and career development during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. This research has been approved by UC Berkeley Institutional Review Board (IRB#2020-03-13110).

This study includes two-time online surveys (now and in the beginning of new school year). Each time the survey will take you and your child up to 15 and 25 minutes respectively. Your child will receive a $15 Amazon gift card every time both you and your child complete the online surveys. During the summer, you and your child may be invited to participate in the focus groups separately, and each of you will be provided with an additional $40 gift card.

We are looking for parents and their Chinese American adolescents aged between 10 to 19 years old who are currently enrolling in middle or high schools in the United States. Parents can scan the QR code on the flyer to get access to the survey or use the following link: https://berkeley.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_dgauqlitL5bG4IJ. There are three languages available: English, Mandarin and traditional Chinese.
