Gaithersburg, Md. (May 22, 2020) The Gaithersburg CARES Hub is now accepting both referrals and donations. A partnership of the City of Gaithersburg, Seneca Creek Community Church and Manna Food Center, the CARES Hub provides essential health items and food for children, families and seniors in the Gaithersburg area who are recovering at home from COVID-19. Due to quarantine and isolation restrictions, these households are unable to access other community support services that do not have a contactless delivery component.
Church staff and volunteers will receive, inventory and package donations, to be delivered by community volunteers. Both donations and volunteers are needed. The CARES Hub, located at Seneca Creek Community Church, 13 Firstfield Road, Gaithersburg, Md., 20878, accepts donations Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. A list of most needed items and delivery instructions are available on the City of Gaithersburg website here.
Referrals to the program can be made by contacting the City of Gaithersburg Community Services Division at GaithersburgCaresHub@gaithersburgmd.gov or by calling 301-258-6395.
In order to serve as many residents as possible in the greater Gaithersburg area, more partners are invited to join the effort. Organizations offering specific services such as specialized case management, volunteer meal and snack pack delivery, food recovery and distribution, and distribution of large donations are especially welcomed. Please contact GaithersburgCaresHub@gaithersburgmd.gov or call 301-258-6395.
This project is made possible by the generous donation of time, expertise, and resources from the greater Gaithersburg community. Initial partners include Gaithersburg Beloved Community Initiative at Asbury Methodist Village, Church of the Redeemer, Gaithersburg Coalition of Providers, GaithersburgHELP, the Kentlands Community Foundation, La Casita Restaurant, the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services, the Montgomery County Muslim Foundation, Montgomery County Public Schools, and House with a Heart Senior Pet Sanctuary. The City also acknowledges the logistical advice provided by the Upcounty Consolidation Hub for Community Needs at BlackRock Center for the Arts in Germantown.
