Gaithersburg, MD (September 21, 2022) The City of Gaithersburg welcomes the annual "Hispanic Heritage Celebration" art exhibit to the Activity Center at Bohrer Park through November 13, 2022. The Activity Center is located at 506 South Frederick Avenue and is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.  The exhibit is part of the City's Hispanic Heritage Celebration.

Collage artist Roxana Rojas-Luzon returns as the special guest curator for this exhibition. She selected 39 pieces of art in a variety of two-dimensional mediums. "Hispanic artists want to offer the community a complete vision of what it means to be Hispanic," said Rojas-Luzon. "Our works not only represent what we left in our countries of origin and our nostalgia, but also our daily joys and struggles — what we are living and learning here every day. They are a fusion of imagination, experiences and richly varied influences. Our Hispanic heritage is intrinsic in our imagery and colors — what we learned as children: love for our families, landscapes, faces, and traditions. All this is rendered not only realistically but also figuratively, abstractly and even surreally."

Artists featured in this exhibit include María Luisa Benavides, Tony Brun, David Camero, Felisa Federman, Magaly Garza, Elena Gaston Nicolas, Edward Johansen, Mita Lazarte, Silvia Martinez, and Sandra Pérez-Ramos.

Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with educational and cultural presentations and activities.
