Gaithersburg, MD (November 23, 2021) Celebrate diverse and vibrant holiday traditions at Gaithersburg's Jingle Jubilee. Enjoy an evening of music, dance, song, and storytelling. This year marks the 95th anniversary of the tree lighting ceremony. The festivities take place at the City Hall Concert Pavilion in Olde Towne on Saturday, December 4, 2021, from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Admission is free. The outdoor venue features lawn seating with limited chairs. Please feel free to bring your own low chair to enjoy the entertainment. Masks are encouraged for this outdoor event.
Children and adults alike will delight in meeting Santa, Frosty the Snowman, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, Winnie the Pooh, and other storybook characters. Be sure to bring your camera to capture memorable holiday photos. Meet animal characters who benefit from clean streams, pose for pictures with the City's newly painted snowplows and a beautifully decorated police car, write a letter to Santa, sing along to holiday songs with the Gaithersburg High School Band, and enjoy exhibits of diverse decorations and traditions.
Bank On Gaithersburg and Gaithersburg Financial Wellness Coalition representatives will be on hand with information about budgeting and opening a savings account. Kids can add "dollar saving ornaments" to a banking tree and drop of a letter to Santa at the "ATM deposit."
To keep things toasty at Jingle Jubilee, you can purchase hot chocolate and savory treats from the Gaithersburg Student Union. The evening will conclude with holiday wishes from the Mayor and City Council and the magnificent tree lighting ceremony.
The Montgomery County Coalition for the Homeless (MCCH) will be on hand with holiday cards for families to sign that will be sent to those on active military duty. To support homeless veterans in Montgomery County, MCCH provides safe, stable and affordable housing to an average of 75 homeless veterans each year. Cash donations will also be accepted during Jingle Jubilee to purchase furniture, small kitchen appliances, linens, and household items for our returning soldiers.
Jingle Jubilee is sponsored in part by the Maryland State Arts Council and the City of Gaithersburg’s Multicultural Affairs Committee (MAC).
