The vaccine rollout continues to be a challenge but there is some additional light in the tunnel with the FDA’s emergency use authorization of the Johnson and Johnson COVID vaccine. For us, this means 49,600 doses are coming to Maryland this week and of that, the County will receive 1,600 doses. Johnson and Johnson expects to deliver 20 million doses by the end of March nationally and 60 million by the end of April. This, combined with 600 million doses of Modern and Pfizer vaccines secured by the Biden Administration, will help propel the progress made so far on the vaccine rollout.

At this time, 14.9% of Montgomery County residents have received their first dose of the vaccine and 7.4% have gotten their second dose. If you are 75 or older and have pre-registered with the County, you should have received an email invitation to make an appointment. If you did not receive an email, please check your junk folder and then call 240-777-1755 or use this email to reach the County.

For communities that have been most impacted by COVID, the County recently opened three new sites by appointment only:

  • White Oak Recreation Center
  • East County Recreation Center
  • Chinese Culture and Community Center
