Montgomery County reminds residents that the deadline to receive the one-time Economic Impact Payment (EIP), also known as the "stimulus check," is approaching. EIP is a one-time payment made by the federal government to provide financial relief due to COVID-19. Residents who have not received their EIP may need to provide additional information to the IRS before receiving their payment.

Individuals that receive federal benefits must submit information using the IRS Non-Filer tool by Wed., Sept. 30 to receive $500 per child added to their EIP.

Individuals who do not normally file a tax return must submit information using the IRS Non-Filer tool by Thurs., Oct. 15 to receive their EIP.

The CASH Campaign of Maryland, in collaboration with the Montgomery County Community Action Agency’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program and with support from the Gilchrist Immigrant Resource Center, has created EIP outreach flyers to share this critical information with the public. Flyers are available for download in multiple languages including  English, Spanish, Amharic, Chinese, French, and Vietnamese on the CASHBACK EIP webpage.

Community Action's VITA program offers free virtual appointments for Montgomery County residents with household incomes of $56,000 or less who need assistance with their EIP or with their 2018 amended and 2019 taxes. In-person contact is not required. For assistance, call 240-777-1123 to schedule an appointment.  For more information, visit montgomerycountymd.gov/CASHBACK
